TABE 2026 Concordance Study

DRC is excited to let you know about an opportunity to participate in an online field test this spring in support of TABE® 13&14 assessments. This concordance study is essential to the continued development of TABE® 13&14 as a federally approved set of assessments, and we need your help to achieve this goal.

We invite your program and students to participate in our concordance study and help us shape the future of TABE, while allowing students to earn $75!

Concordance Study Testing Window: February 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026
The concordance study is open to candidates who have recently taken or plan to take all sections (Reading, Math and Language) of TABE 13 or 14. Candidates who have completed the TABE tests will then need to take the Reading, Math and Language tests of a corresponding content research study assessment within 3 weeks of completing the TABE tests.  All candidates must have demographic data fully completed by the testing program in the DRC INSIGHT Portal Student Profile, and participants are required to complete the Student Demographic Survey sessions during their TABE 13 or 14 testing. The Concordance Study testing is completely online, with no paper materials to send back to DRC.

About the Concordance Study

▸Purpose
The purpose of this study is to align TABE test results to a nationally recognized norm-referenced test.

The data from the study will provide DRC with information to complete additional research requirements needed under WIOA Title II National Reporting System regulations. We invite your center to take part by contributing to this important phase of our ongoing test development.

The study will consist of candidates who have taken all three sections of TABE 13 or 14 (Reading, Math and Language) then completing three assigned sections of the corresponding research study forms (Reading, Math and Language). Testing is flexible and may be given in one sitting or over multiple days, but all research study testing must be completed within 3 weeks of the completed TABE test.

▸Eligibility
Study participation is open to candidates who have taken any level of TABE 13 or 14 test in the online format. Test centers have the flexibility to decide the number of candidates who will participate. Candidates must complete all testing and demographic reporting to qualify for the gift card incentive.

▸Benefits of Participation
DRC recognizes that meeting today’s high testing standards requires a commitment to creating products that have a positive impact on teaching and learning. Your participation in this study is vital to the continued development of high-quality assessments that will help future achievement.

Programs electing to participate in the TABE study will benefit in several different ways:

  • You will contribute to improving the quality and development of the adult assessments you already use to effectively assess the skills and knowledge of adult learners
  • Students will access the field test 100% online with the DRC INSIGHT™ platform, providing valuable experience with online testing
  • Programs will earn a $100 for every 25 candidates who complete the study requirements.

▸Online Administration
The field test is administered completely online. Participating test centers must be current TABE customers that are already using the DRC INSIGHT online testing platform.

▸Incentives
Each participating adult student will earn an incentive, to be provided to them in the form of a gift card soon after testing is completed at the center. This incentive recognizes their time and effort for participating in the study:

  • Each student who completes testing and demographic requirements will receive a $75 gift card
  • DRC will also provide the testing site an incentive, in recognition of its time and efforts to recruit test-takers and to proctor the tests

*For correctional programs that may have incentive questions/needs, please contact us directly.

▸Privacy
All data gathered by DRC will be used for research purposes only. Individual names and scores will be kept confidential. Score reports or results will not be provided, since these are research studies.
